This book aims to unravel the stagnant understanding of kitsch inherited from Western ideological frameworks and aesthetic categories.

 

For too long, kitsch has been approached through concepts that emerged from experiences and historical conditions distant from those of Egypt, and which often fail to account for the complexity of Egyptian cultural life.

 

While such frameworks have undoubtedly provided valuable insights, their uncritical application within the Egyptian context has frequently obscured more than it has revealed.
